Van Gogh’s “Olive Trees” is one of the five paintings of olive groves that the Dutch painter produced in 1889. Painted directly in nature and ablaze with Seurat-style dots, this work reacts to the trending paintings of Paul Gauguin and Émile Bernard. Van Gogh stated, “What I’ve done can be construed as a rather rough and coarse realism beside their abstractions, but it nonetheless will emanate a rustic note and the scent of the earth.” In short, “Olive Trees – Van Gogh” is a work full of movement and perfect colors to brighten up your living room.
